Hello from here to there,

Birthdays at times can have their way with us. Another year of life gone by, celebrating the day we were birthed into this existence.

I was back home this past weekend with my family in Canada, feeling nostalgic driving down familiar roads, the streets of my childhood, memories flooding in as I drove from place to place. I was feeling grateful for everything that has brought me to this moment.

I was at my parents home looking at photos on the walls and there I was, little Bonnie Pearl (that’s my birth name).

I looked at her and thought about all the life she has lived, the people who've come in and out of my story, the places we've traveled, the beauty, the loss, stages of life, rites of passage, and the grace because of them.

I thought about the family who raised me, my chosen family today, and the love that has woven us all as one.

Seeing different versions of myself, all looking to find their way home. From little Bonnie Pearl to Sage Robbins.

Standing there, I found myself smiling at choices I made along the way, the ridiculous outfits, the hairdos, a couple of bad perms.(:

I also had to laugh at myself realizing actually how completely oblivious I was at times when I was convinced that I knew a thing or two about life.

And with time, I've come to see that all of it, the cracking, the flattening, the humbling is all here to open us. To grow us. To connect us to our true nature.

We become wise enough to look back with a broader, kinder perspective.

We begin to take a long-needed breath and realize we were all doing the best we could at the time. We start to see life more clearly; with what we knew, with what we'd been given, we did the best we could. And through Divine grace we got here together.

I'm grateful for every version that has led me here. As I enter this next chapter of life, I feel grateful knowing that LIFE is bigger than any challenges we may be navigating in any moment.

You and I can choose to catch ourselves, to see ourselves — not perfect ourselves — and live a kinder more connected way forward.

This week, I invite you to join me, to tune into a story you’ve been holding on to, and notice: What did I miss in this situation?

THIS WEEK’S REFLECTION
Think of an experience in your life you once thought was painful. From where you stand now, what do you notice that you couldn't see then?

  • How did you grow?

  • What shifted for the better because of it?

I'd love to hear what you remember.

Thank you for all the beautiful birthday wishes and messages. Your generosity and grace moved me deeply. I'm grateful for this extraordinary community of human beings who choose to live their lives a kinder way.

With love,
Sage 🪷
